Hello Parents!

As the Social Coordinator for GMGSO, I am responsible for helping with the Gym Sisters Program.  In past years, there have been many issues with the program, some of which are avoidable, and others which are not.  This year, we have decided to try a different approach to the idea of gym sisters and turn it into more of a team building program.  It will no longer be girls paired up as ‘sisters’, it will be non-competing levels doing nice things for competing levels.  It’s an encouragement giving program, not a gift giving program.  Here’s how it will work (hopefully):

Fall Season
Levels 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 will be responsible for giving encouragement to levels 3, 4, & 5 for every meet of the season including state

Spring Season
Levels 3, 4, & 5 will be responsible for giving encouragement to levels 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 for every meet of the season including state, regionals, and nationals

For Example:  For Monsoon Madness this weekend, the 6/7 4:00 group is making cards for each of the level 4’s and a good luck poster has been hung at the gym.

Compulsory parents: your level reps are currently coordinating with the optional reps to ensure your child’s level is being encouraged, but come January you will be asked for your help in supporting the optional levels

Optional parents: Currently the optionals are being lumped into workout groups since many don’t know what level they will compete yet.  You may have already received an email from your level rep requesting help or planning a get together, but if not, you will soon!  Here are the reps by level and the workout group they are currently in charge of:

Level 6: Carrie Skaggs – 4:00
Level 7: Jamie Pieper – 1:00 & 3:00
Level 8: Julie Misner – 2:15
Level 9: Carolyn York – 1:00
Level 10: Josh York – 1:00 (but Erica Schnitzer is handling gym sisters)

I hope this all makes sense!  Thank you for all of your support and hopefully, together we can make this program a success!
